LEARN THE ART OF ARRANGING FLOWERS
 

Join Lauren and Louisina in their bright, flower filled studio for an in-depth, three-day sustainable floristry course in designing beautiful, naturalistic, garden-inspired wedding flowers. In our relaxed studio environment, we will introduce you to our creative approach to designing flowers for weddings. Learn how to select seasonal, botanical materials and create arrangements in a garden-gathered style using sustainable 'foam-free' techniques. The course will include practical tips on making and transporting arrangements along with lots of inspirational colour palettes and recipes. Learn how to design detailed and romantic wedding party florals, showstopping ceremony installations, and luxurious table flowers and centrepieces.  

 

Day 1

Bouquets and Floral Accessories

Master two bouquet making techniques; the ‘twist’ and 'hand vase' method to create effortlessly beautiful, garden-gathered bridal bouquets. Learn how to create intricate and detailed boutonnieres and hair combs including how to keep accessory florals fresh out of water for up to 72 hours.

 

Day 2

Ceremonies

Learn how to create a floral archway and wildflower meadow aisle covering the essential building blocks in creating large-scale, naturalistic installations with seasonal materials and foam-free mechanics. 
 

Day 3

Table Flowers and Centrepieces
Learn how to arrange flowers in small vessels and pair with other tableware, candles and silks. Learn how to make a wedding table centrepiece in a footed ceramic bowl using foam-free mechanics. 

 

Over the course of the three days, you will work both individually and in small teams both in the studio and outdoors (weather permitting). Your work will be captured each day by Lauren to give you a series of professional photographs to contribute to your wedding portfolio. Surrounded by the most beautiful flowers of our farm season, you will immerse yourself in the exciting world of wedding flowers, building up a rich repertoire that stretches from delicate accessories to building a ceremony archway.

 

Days of Dahlia’s tutor and founder Louisina has been creating beautiful and memorable wedding flowers for forty years. Lauren and Louisina have successfully delivered 100s of weddings together using their own farm grown flowers over the past 7 years. Join us in our beautiful studio and flower school near Glasgow for a blissful three days dedicated to mastering the craft and skill of wedding floristry. This course is suited to a wide variety of flower arrangers - from floristry professionals keen to take their wedding flower business in a more sustainable and seasonal direction, to those who are learning and keen to break into the industry, or for those preparing florals for their own wedding or for a loved one.

 

This comprehensive, high-energy workshop will immerse you in a busy floristry environment with a view to develop a sustainable approach to your existing floristry practice or to explore whether flowers might take you on a new career journey! Days of Dahlia will provide all flowers, tools, materials, and aprons but you are also welcome to bring your own tools if preferred.

 

Our flower school near Glasgow delivers a programme of sustainable floristry classes and courses that celebrate seasonal flowers, combining the art of garden-style flower arranging with practical tuition on sustainable, foam-free mechanics. We provide support and inspiration in developing your own floral style and encourage you to develop confidence and flair by building your experience. By allowing yourself to be attuned to nature and its imperfections, your arrangements will in turn be more authentic and more beautiful.

 

Each student will have an exciting and varied selection of our seasonal, farm-grown flowers and foliage to work with. Our workshops always use our own farm-grown flowers. We don't use floral foam in any of our work or teaching.

 

Delicious refreshments will be served to keep the creativity and energy flowing. All refreshments, materials, flowers, and the use of tools and sundries are included in the price of this workshop.

  • Hosted at our studio in South Lanarkshire which is 30mins drive from central Glasgow or 45-60mins via public transport with a 30-40mins walk along a country road from the nearest bus stop. We welcome both aspiring and experienced crafters, florists, artists, hobbyists, enthusiasts, experts to complete beginners. We have welcomed many different people to our flower school over the years from all over the world and from many different backgrounds, careers and experiences. Whatever experience you bring or whatever your motivation to join us, we welcome you and will always be your inspiration and guide whilst encouraging you to explore your own ideas and creativity. Slow down with us and appreciate the beauty of the natural world, our workshops are the perfect antidote to the fastpaced, hectic nature of modern life.
