LEARN THE ART OF ARRANGING FLOWERS
Take the mystery and difficulty out of removing floral foam from your floristry practice by joining Lauren & Louisina in their bright, flower filled studio for a foam free archways and clouds class; an immersive, fun, full day workshop packed with practical, in-depth knowledge and beautiful solutions for creating large scale archways without foam.
Floral foam is a toxic, single-use form of plastic which is destined for landfill and causes direct plastic contamination of the marine environment. As a convenient staple in modern floristry design, it can be challenging to create large scale installations without it. We have created 100s of foam-free designs for events and developed many innovative alternatives and practical solutions along the way to create installations that are more natural, more beautiful and with a committed zero waste approach.
Participants will learn how to make a flower and foliage archway and cloud in our highly gestural, intricate, garden-inspired style. Learn about which armatures to use, how to stabilise the piece, how to choose suitable foliage and flowers, how to hydrate flowers without foam, which hidden vessels to use, where to source armatures and materials, and how to build installations easily, sustainably and efficiently on site at events as well as organising logistics and transport. We will share our four decades of experience, innovations, techniques, and mechanics for foam-free floristry. This class is perfect for those who wish to prioritise sustainability without sacrificing style, beauty, or ambition in their installations. Spend the day working on an immersive installation in our flower studio collaboratively with other participants to create a immersive "floral theatre" to be proud of.
Guidance will be given on the construction followed by a practical exercise where participants will make the installations with plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
Our flower school near Glasgow delivers a programme of sustainable floristry classes and courses that celebrate seasonal flowers, combining the art of garden-style flower arranging with practical tuition on sustainable, foam-free mechanics. We provide support and inspiration in developing your own floral style and encourage you to develop confidence and flair by building your experience. By allowing yourself to be attuned to nature and its imperfections, your arrangements will in turn be more authentic and more beautiful.
Each student will have an exciting and varied selection of our seasonal, farm-grown flowers and foliage to work with. Our workshops always use our own farm-grown flowers. We don't use imported flowers, floral foam or plastic in any of our work or teaching.
Delicious refreshments will be served to keep the creativity and energy flowing. All refreshments, materials, flowers, and the use of tools and sundries are included in the price of this workshop.
